Things I Stepped On in My House Every Day for Most of My Life

  1. The floor

Things I Step On in My House Every Day Now That I Have a Toddler and I Haven’t Made Full Foot Contact with the Floor in Several Years Except Directly Before and After We Moved to a New Place

  1. Rocks. So many rocks.
  2. Diecast vehicles, including but not limited to space shuttles, tractors, airplanes, cars, tow trucks, and buses
  3. Lego blocks
  4. Plastic cookie cutters
  5. Crayons
  6. Hundreds of baby wipes now that they’ve all been pulled out of the container
  7. Marbles
  8. Linty Band-Aids
  9. Beads
  10. Hard plastic princess dresses
  11. Pretend bolts and screws
  12. Wooden train tracks
  13. Animal figurines, usually the ones with pointy parts like stegosaurs or sharks
  14. Dried shards of play dough
  15. Books
  16. Wooden puzzle pieces but never the flat ones – just the ones with the knobs on them
  17. Marker caps
  18. My Little Ponies and their sharp little ears
  19. Tupperware lids
  20. Random wet spots
  21. Goldfish crackers
  22. Pipe cleaners with all the fuzz rubbed off that MUST NOT BE PUT IN THE TRASH BECAUSE THEY ARE VERY SPECIAL
  23. Really useful engines from Sodor
  24. Action figures and their jabby little hands and feet (and Ariel’s hair since my dog chewed off her hands and feet)
  25. Uninflated balloons stuck together with graham cracker-infused spit
