Easter Weekend

Poetry

8 Apr

A few years ago, I laughed
When a friend told me about two-for-one
Rolling Rocks
At the local bar
On Easter weekend.

Several years ago, I cried
When a friend was devastated by a
Complete Stranger
Who took both of their lives
On Easter weekend.

Last year, I smiled
When a child was excited by the
Risen Christ
Enough to dance uninhibited
On Easter weekend.

This year, I wondered
When these memories came to
My Mind
What resurrection is to me
On Easter weekend.
